Path of Exile Item Upgrades
The performance of many Path of Exile items can be improved by upgrading them. They can also provide additional damage, AD or even affixes.
Sometimes, however, upgraded Common and Magic gear is beaten out by Rare-grade equipment due to their requirements.
Armor
Armor upgrades can be applied to both weapon and armor items. They boost the performance of the item that they're connected to. Armor upgrades are available in the world of the game and purchased from Blacksmiths on bonfires. The amount of damage an armored item or weapon will absorb is contingent on the extent of its upgrades. A Glyphmaster can provide glyphs to enhance the look of your shields and weapons. These glyphs provide a small boost and can be freely exchanged, however they are not guaranteed to be available as loot.
